3D experience

Currently I am working as a Senior Character Technical Director at Pacific Data Images (PDI)/Dreamworks (2002 - present). While at PDI I have worked on Shrek 2, Madagascar, Shrek 3, Bee Movie, Madagascar 2, and How To Train Your Dragon. I work primarily on facial animation systems.

My first exposure to 3D software was with Strata Studio Pro and Bryce in 1997. In 1998 I switched to LightWave 3D. In 2000 I began using Messiah for Lightwave. 3D highlights include:
    - Author of popular Lscripts for Lightwave 6, including Super Cloner and Super Spinner.
    - Fatbox and Electronic Arts: character technical direction and modeling for game cinematics (2001).
    - PMG Demo Reel: two animations featured in the Project Messiah demo reel at SIGGRAPH 2001.
    - ElfWorks: character animation for video project (2001).
    - 3DExchange: LightWave instructor of animation and modeling (2000 to 2001).
    - 415 Productions and Macromedia: primary 3D artist for award-winning DiscoverToys project (1999).

Fine art

A self-taught mixed media sculptor, I exhibited my work in various galleries in San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Sacramento from 1994 to 1998. I was very pleased to do a show at the PDI/Dreamworks Redwood City building in 2003.

Education

I received a double major BA in Environmental Studies and Economics with College Honors, Thesis Honors, and Major Honors from UCSC in 1990. Transcripts available upon request. Relevant areas of study include:
    - Mathematics: calculus, linear algebra, and discrete math.
    - Programming: limited experience with Pascal, C++, and LScript (see 3D experience).
    - Biology: vertebrate biology and animal behavior.

Multimedia experience

I began using personal computers in 1981. From 1988 to 2002 I worked as a computer graphics and multimedia contractor, mostly doing graphic and animation design, production, and integration, but other work included photography, database design, programming, game and interface design, desktop publishing, live-TV graphics production and presentation, and computer training.

Direct clients included: Cyberian Design, David Donnenfield Productions, Diasonics, ElfWorks, Fatbox, 415 Productions, Imagine Engine, Northern Telecom Inc., SayIt.com, Wells Fargo, Xronos, Ynot.

Indirect clients included: Adobe, Advance Reality, Apple, Best Buys, Electronic Arts, Handspring, Hasboro, Hewlett Packard, The Learning Company, Lexus, Macromedia, Oracle, Replay TV, 3Com.
